During (Formative)	Proficiency Progress	It is used to measure how suitable the students will be for performing a certain task. To find out how well the candidates have mastered the language areas after they have learnt the topic.
End (Summative)	Achievement Placement	To find out how well the candidates have mastered the language areas throughout the semester. Enables teacher to sort the students into group based on their performance in the class.
